Armed with a relentless, DIY work ethic and wildly diverse sonic palette spanning everything from industrial hyper pop to ethereal post-punk, Sun Spot have worked tirelessly to nurture their growing reputation as one of the most exciting live acts within the UK underground circuit, garnering support from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and BBC Radio 6, Kerrang!, Dot to Dot Festival, Amazing Radio, ArcTanGent Festival, and even becoming the first band to perform at the renovated Bristol Beacon.
Working Memory (Venn Records, 2023) served as a milestone release for the Bristol quartet, cementing their reputation as defiantly explorative songwriters with a knack for infectious melody. “Being a collection of talented musicians is one thing, but without creativity and vision, it means little” explains friend of the band, VINYLFANTASY. “Working Memory indicates that Sun Spot are [...] a band with an absolute focus on what they desire to create”.
Formed by long-time friends Will Palmer and George Turner, at its core, the freedom of being an entirely self-produced project has allowed Sun Spot to curate a sprawling collection of diverse and unpredictable songs, spearheaded by the experimental production and emotive lyrics that have become a signature of their sound. Flash forward to 2023 and now, joined by Scott “Scoops” Alexander-Bowen (guitar, bass) and Kris Bressington (drums), Sun Spot continue to delve further into uncharted sonic territories.
